With  a PADI MSDT, SDI/ TDI  SCUBA Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard/ CPR/ 1^st Aid Instructor Trainer and Water Safety Instructor Trainer, for well over 25 years.  Deb received a BS in Human Movement Studies from Kent State University, and her M.Ed. in Kinesiology at Bowling Green State University, specializing in Aquatics.  She is also 100 ton Master Captain, with a lifetime of sailing experience.  Most recently Deb and her partner Jon, received the National Lifesaving Award from the National American Red Cross, for saving a man's life.

Deb, originally from Massachusetts & Ohio, has spent about a third of her life in Florida, and not leaving anytime soon!  Aside from SCUBA, Deb's specialties include swimming lessons to very young children thru adults, and lifeguarding.

WATERFRONT    LIFEGUARD COURSE

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Purpose: To teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

Prerequisites

* Minimum age of 15.

* Swim 550 meters continuously.

*Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Certification Requirements

• Attend all class sessions.
• Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
• Demonstrate competency in the three final skill scenarios.

Correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions in the three sections of the final written exam.

WATERFRONT certification will allow you to work at a waterfront facility as well as a pool environment
